Sporty

Thistle Ridge Sporty
Cricket x Siegfried Phar-Non
 Tan & White, rough, 12.5"
 BAER Normal & CERF Clear
NHC to Groundhog

Sporty earned her Natural Hunting Certificate to groundhog on August 28, 2001 under Jose Rico. I have began working her on raccoon and oppossum and she is really coming along. I am very excited to see how she does in the upcoming hunting seasons. Sporty's show career has also taken off. She has had numerous class wins and championships in conformation. She has also had several racing championships and reserves and is only getting better with age. I held her out of the spring/summer 2002 show season because she was raising pups, but she is back now in full force and has started in the field and the ring again.

Her first litter, out of Loomis' Macho, has her incredible temperament. Her only daughter, Valentine, stayed at Thistle Ridge, and is almost a carbon copy of her mom and grandmother. I am very excited to begin showing and working her. Two of her males went to previous puppy homes of Cricket's pups. One is Mundo, who lives with Peter and Cindi Quintana in Austin. Another male, Nick Nack, is with Jeremy and Kim Young in New Jersey. Another of her pups, Jeffery, live with my good friends Dave Tovar and Jim Bond in Austin. Sporty is by far the best mom we have had and was a pleasure throughout her puppy raising days. She even helped her sister, CJ, and her mom, Cricket, in the rearing of their puppies. Congratulations to the families of her & Mick's puppies. One red male resides with Jenni Mitchell at Persimmon Hill in Kansas, the female went to live with Steve Klindworth, his daughter, and their Jack Russell, Brutus, in Liberty Hill, Texas, and the last red male went to live with a wonderful family close to home, in Kennedale, Texas.

Sparkle (retired)

Sow's Ear Sparkle
Sow's Ear Snippet x Sow's Ear Taltos (Harry)
Tan & White, rough, 11.25"
BAER Normal

NHC to Oppossum

We are very pleased with Sparkle, an addition to our happy terrier family a little while ago! It took some work to bring this little girl to Texas, but it was worth it. She has a very tight pedigree consisting of some of the finest terriers in the US.  Her mother, Snippet, holds a Bronze Medallion and her father holds a NHC to both groundhog and Opossum. It seems that she is going to follow in the footsteps of her mom, Snippet, affectionately called "Itty Bitty" because of her size - she stands at only 11.25 at the withers.

What Snippet lacks in size she makes up for in drive and Sparkle is showing the same promising characteristics! In addition, her breeding consists heavily of Garon's Sailor and his offspring which have proven to consistently produce exceptional temperaments and conformation.

Sparkle has grown to be a whopping 11.25 inches. What she lacks in size she makes up in drive and enthusiasm. She is truly my perpetual puppy. She is a real traffic stopper with her adorable looks and entertaining personality. Sparkle is a great little working dog, and has worked a variety of quarry, including groundhog, oppossum, raccoon and a 13 line ground squirrel!

I FINALLY bred my tiny one. We got two really great pups from this. The little girl, Squirrel, is a carbon copy of her mom, the only difference is the way she is marked. She lives with my good friend and her new husband (CONGRATULATIONS!!!) in Burleson. The male, Shiner, is staying on here with me. Look for pictures on the News page! After the rough go of having puppies and making me a nervous wreck, these might be the only two she ever has!!!

Dash

Dash Jones
By Bayfox Jack (bred by Jackie Harris, UK) out of Sayner's Jinx.

Rough coat, tan & white 11.5"

BAER Normal

Dash was just bred to my dog, Duncan Jones, on June 20. I'm very excited to see what I get from this!!

Dash caught my eye immediately during my visit to David Jones' on my trip in 2000 to the United Kingdom. At first I saw an adorable little dog that looked like a tiny toy, but when I really started looking at her I realized that she was a perfect little dog in a tiny package. From the time I brough her home she was full of confidence and one of the calmest pups I ever had. She seems to pass both of the traits on to her pups as her dam, Jinx, has done. She has amazing bone and substance for such a small terrier, and a beautiful head like her sire, Jack.

Dash's second litter, by Sow's Ear Bullseye, is looking to be my best litter ever and has been repeated. The first pups are extremely consistent, carbon copies of each other. I have decided to keep one female that has Dash's looks and confidence. "Liza" was first out of the box, first to explore, and took my heart immediately. The male from this litter went to Debbie Ruetenik at Seagull Kennels in Texas, where he will hopefully be a fine addition to her breeding program. He has already tore it up in the show ring and we are very excited about his future. One female, "Sally", is living the big dog life with Kim & Mark Rice and Family at Rare Mettle Ridgebacks.  The other female, "Lucky" is living in sunny California. Congratulations to her new owners on getting such a neat puppy! Her second litter with Bull produced Thistle Ridge Missouri "Mo" and she lives not to far from me with Dave Price. She is so beautiful, and put together perfectly.

Check back frequently for updates on Dash and her kids!

Schatzie

Schatzie gets ready for bed.

Siegfried (Sharon & Larry Hudson) x Cricket of Thistle Ridge
12 1/4 inches, lightly broken, DOB 6/20/99

Schatzie is a sweet, out-going little girl and is always in the ribbons at terrier trials. She has been Reserve Racing Champion or Racing Champion at all of her latest trials and has consistently placed 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in conformation and has also been placed Reserve Best Bitch Pup. Judges and spectators are constantly commenting on her beautiful movement and angulation. Schatzie is retired and serves me well as a wonderful working terrier!

CJ

Siegfried (Sharon & Larry Hudson) x Cricket of Thistle Ridge
 12 inches, Broken, DOB 6/20/99

We lost CJ this past year and it is noticed by all that knew here. She was a wonderful, affectionate little dog and the first puppy ever born at Thistle Ridge. She contributed a lot to our breeding program and to the people that live with her puppies. She will always be missed. I feel so fortunate to have had her in my life.

Sunny

Thistle Ridge CJ x Culhullan's Mick
Broken Coat, Red

DOB 5-22-05

Sunny is named after a good friend of our family, Sonny Burgess, who is an amazing country music singer and grew up with my brother. The night she was born, I was at a graduation party for my nephew, and Sonny was playing. So I put a girly twist on it and the name fit her. She really does bring sunshine into my life every day. She's a pain in the rear, she is so smart and can get out of anything, onto anything, and under anything. As I was putting her picture up I looked in the living room and she was on the coffee table with her head in my Dr Pepper! But she is so pretty, and I knew almost immediately that I wouldn't be able to let her go.  I think she is going to be a great addition to the pack in every way.

Cricket

Cricket of Thistle Ridge
Cedardale Santana x Annie (David Dunlap)

Rough, 13 1/2 inches

January 1998 - January 2005

It has taken me six months to write this, but I finally feel up to the task. Cricket was my first female Jack Russell Terrier, and she made breeding these dogs a true pleasure. She was an amazing mom and had some equally amazing puppies who have spread joy to families around the United States. I lost Cricket early this year to a horrible tragedy, and the void that is felt in my heart and home is still a huge one. We will never forget you, little one, and we'll see you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Valentine

Thistle Ridge Valentine
Thistle Ridge Sporty x Loomis' Macho

Tan & White, Rough, 12 inches

Valentine stole my heart immediately. She was Sporty's only daughter from her first litter and is tough as nails. She has the big hair that seems to run in the Thistle Ridge family, so I have a lot of work cut out for me in that department! Valentine is turning out to be quite a hunting dog. She just had her first litter (6/4/07) and it is Shiner's first litter as well. I'm sure they will be hairy! But oh so cute! There are four males and two females.

Liza

Dash Jones x Sow's Ear Bullseye
Tan & White, Broken, 11.5"

July 28, 2003

Oh Liza, what can you say about a dog like her!! She has all the spunk and spirit you would expect from a Jack Russell, and she is all wrapped up in a nice little package. I adore this dog, she is so much like her mother, with a little bit of her dad thrown in. I was in no hurry to breed her, but she had other plans! The result was two great little female puppies.

Update!

Remi

In the coursing field

And on the couch! Her activity of choice most of the time!

Rare Mettle's Rdnk Warrior Princess
DC Rare Mettle's Camelot Princess SC FCh x CH Amini of Pumalanga (Abe)

DOB January 7, 2003

These two photos are a perfect description of my big girl! Remi is a Rhodesian Ridgeback and the perfect balance to our terrier family. At her very first weekend of showing, she took Best of Breed. I was beside myself, since it is my first time to show in the AKC also! I can't thank Kim Rice enough for sending Remi to live with me. I think she is in for a great future of showing, lure coursing, and, of course, hunting with the terriers! These things will require her to get off the couch for more than 20 minutes at a time but I think she'll manage. Watch for frequent updates on Remi's show results and her own page coming soon!

Heater

CH. Cuyuna's Texas Heatwave "Heater"
By Ch. Von Link's Yamada Tomahawk out of Ch. Charisma Susquehanna
Owned by Jim & Doris Palmer & Wendy Palmer

Heater is my mom & dad's awesome Standard Schnauzer that I have the privilege of co-owning. She began her show career in July of 2001 and won her first major in Houston at the Astro World Series of Dog shows that very  same month. Since then she has continued to do great things in the ring and recently earned her championship under handler, Maggie Pryor from Crowley, Texas.

Maggie does a wonderful job with Heater, and I doubt we could've have brought her this far on our own (since my dad & I knew nothing about AKC showing  -  I still don't, although my dad  has come a long way in a short time!).

There are so many good qualities about this bitch, it's hard to pick the best one, but I would have to say her personality is at the top of my list. She is very intelligent and sweet, and she does the funniest things around the house. I have not been around this breed much, so I assumed they were all the same. I have found from talking to other breeders that she is special in her temperament!

PUPPIES ARE HERE!!!!!

We are very proud to announce the arrival of four beautiful puppies! Two boys and two girls, we couldn't have asked for better. After much searching and debate, she was bred to CH. Hartgersotten's Valley of the Sun "Phoenix". You can view his page at http://www.hartgersotten.com/  We are very excited about this litter. One, an amazing female named "Missy" stayed with us and is living with my parent's and Heater.  Button, the other female, is living with my aunt in Conroe, Texas. The two males, Boss and Charlie, both live in Fort Worth. Watch for them coming up in the ring!
Keep checking back for more info on this great girl. We hope to have her own home page up and running in the future!

Mandy

1991 - 2005

We miss you every day. There is a huge hole in our hearts now that you are gone.

Thank you for taking care of us for fourteen amazing years.
